Meet The Staff
Dr. Laura Knipfer
Owner and retired DVM
Dr. Laura graduated from UW-Madison School of Veterinary Medicine in 1994. She has worked as a small animal veterinarian for over 20 years. Dr. Laura lives in Deerfield with her husband, Mike. Dogs, horses, pigs, goats, ducks, chickens, geese, cattle, barn cats, and goldfish complete the family. Her favorite free time activities include watching her daughter, Devan, show their World Champion paint horses and watching her son, Erik, compete in lifting competitions. Dr. Laura is the owner of Back 2 Basics, which was founded in April of 2010. Dr Laura is officially retired as of 2022!
Dr. Kristin Setz-Williams
DVM
Dr. Kristin obtained her Doctor of Veterinary Medicine from the University of Wisconsin – Madison
in May 2010. Since she was a young girl she has always wanted to be a veterinarian. Her interests include pain management, client education, and dentistry. She lives in Sun Prairie with her husband, Scott, and two daughters, Nora and Johanna. They share their home with a sassy orange tabby, Lili. Outside of work, she enjoys getting together with friends and family, reading, and watching movies. Dr. Kristin and her husband are huge Badger fans and like to attend all the football and hockey games. She joined Back 2 Basics Veterinary Clinic in July 2013 and looks forward to meeting you and your pets.
Dr. Jaclyn Watters
DVM CCRT
Dr. Jaclyn is a Wisconsin native who received her Doctor of Veterinary Medicine from the University of Wisconsin - Madison in May 2020. She has special interests in dentistry and rehabilitation therapy. Dr. Jaclyn received her canine rehabilitation certification through the Canine Rehabilitation Institute in 2020. She enjoys all aspects of rehabilitation therapy including, helping dogs (and cats) with post orthopedic surgery recovery, soft tissue injuries, and geriatric pain management. In her free time, she can almost always be found outdoors with her husband and their English Cocker Spaniel, Rylee. They love taking Rylee pheasant hunting and for hikes around the woods! She is very excited to be a part of the B2B team and can't wait to meet you and your pets!
Devan Knipfer
Owner and Practice Manager
Devan is an owner and the practice manager of Back 2 Basics. You'll most often find her behind the front desk, talking on the phone, or assisting in appointments. She has worked at B2B since April of 2010 and her favorite part of the job has always been talking with clients, getting to know each of them individually, and of course smooching on puppies and kittens! In her free time, she enjoys riding and showing her paint horse, Bruno, and traveling with her fiance, Ryan. Devan also enjoys hiking and camping and spending time with her dogs, Peach and Sully. In addition to veterinary medicine, Devan is also passionate about fresh and saltwater aquariums and asphalt car racing.
Jamie Falk
Certified Veterinary Technician and Hospital Manager
Jamie Falk is a Certified Veterinary Technician at Back 2 Basics. She started working here in June of 2016. Jamie graduated from the Madison Area Technical College in 2018. She is from Green Bay, WI, but moved to Madison with her dog, Copper, for school. While in school, Jamie fell in love with a second dog named Brynlee, and has recently added a new dog to the family, Dexter. In her free time she enjoys watching movies, playing sports, and going home to Green Bay to spend time with her family.
Brooke Perry
Veterinary Assistant
Brooke Perry is a Veterinary Assistant at Back 2 Basics. She has worked at B2B since April of 2014 and lives in Sun Prairie with her dog, two cats and rabbit. Her favorite part about working at B2B is getting to know the clients and their fuzzy companions personally. In her spare time, she enjoys agility training with her mini Aussie, Laila, and spending time with friends and family. Her passion has always been animals of all kinds, and she will be attending school to become a Certified Veterinary Technician in the future.
Brooklyn Schumann
Veterinary Assistant
Brooklyn Schumann is a Receptionist and Veterinary Assistant at Back 2 Basics. She started working here in March of 2020. She lives in Portage with her four dogs and two cats (so she's basically the owner of a small zoo!). In her free time she enjoys going for walks or hikes with her any of her four dogs. Working with pets has always been her passion as she was a pet groomer for three years prior to joining the B2B team! Brooklyn loves seeing you furry friends and especially loves to give them treats!
Tammy Moore
Receptionist
Tammy Moore is a receptionist at Back 2 Basics. She started working here in March of 2018 and lives in Sun Prairie with her family. Tammy loves seeing all the cute dogs and cats who come through the clinic and especially loves giving them treats! In her free time, she loves to hang out with her family and tend to her many plants!
Becca Coburn
Receptionist
Becca is a receptionist at Back 2 Basics and started working here in April of 2021. She has 2 kids and an Australian Shepherd puppy at home who keep her busy! They love going camping, hiking, boating, floating… anything outdoors! Her favorite part of the job is loving on your fur babies!
Sam
Receptionist
Sam is a receptionist at Back 2 Basics and started here in August of 2022. Sam has a passion for a dog training, and has worked with animals for over six years. She currently has a mixed breed named Bailey, a Belgian Tervuren named Fenris, a German Shepherd named Skunk, and a Leopard Gecko named Grits! Sam trains and competes in dog sports with both Skunk and Fenris, which range from IGP, dock diving, and more! In her free time, she loves to enjoy the great outdoors with her dogs and her husband!
